Volatile designs

Design Trends

What are design trends? As the term suggests it's obviously designs that are the current buzz creators.

I am referring to designs that are percieved as "cool" and the designs spread by mob mentality. Designs that belong to this kind aren't here to stay, they're very volatile and unpredictable.

It so happens that lots of people start using these designs and it gets boring for the user to look at similar patterns in designs in every product they use. It'll get boring and evaporate from your user's mind.

I think volatile designs are those which are not memorable and gone with the wind.

Something becomes a trend when a designer did something creative and new, which other designers would like to add to their design facets as well. That's where the problem lies where trends are just implemented blindly, you've got to use the trend your way.

I'm not saying every design has to be created from scratch and completely original but we have to do something to own it and design it to make it our own.A simple example, I use buttons in my designs but obviously it's not me who created the concept of buttons. There is that designer who designed Ghost buttons,Raised buttons, Text buttons, Rounded buttons, CTA buttons, etc. These designers designed buttons their way to suit their needs. Similarly, we have to find our wayof designing things to suit our needs.

Trends are necessary for progressing and keep moving in the forward direction. Trends are one of the primary ways of generating new designs and important for continued evolution of designs and designers.

Trend becomes volatile when not done your way.

However, I am all for designing classics and those which never go out of style. I've never followed trends in the designfield and never felt the need to sought after it or use it just to show that I'm aware of what's going on in the industry.I somehow feel influenced and my thoughts get streamlined in one direction. It happened to me in the beginning especially, when I started designing.

I would like my designs to have a firm standing and never dwindle.
